SUMMER LEARNING LABS
Summer Learning Labs 2025
SUMMER OF 2025: Summer Learning Lab Programming will be offered at the Ellettsville Club, The Ferguson Crestmont Club & The Owen County Club.

About Summer Learning Labs:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are thrilled to announce that the Club will be offering our first ever FREE Summer Learning Labs program this summer! This evidence-based program is a great opportunity for all students to stay academically engaged while still getting to experience the joys of summer. It also provides almost $500 in savings, per member, for full day care for your child! We are offering priority registration to members who are already registered for our Summer Center Programming through April 11th, 2025. If your member is not currently registered for summer, we still encourage all interested parties to submit an Interest Form as soon as possible.
Due to limited space, we’re asking for interested parties to complete the following interest form. Please note that completion of this form does not guarantee a spot in a Summer Learning Labs classroom. Families will be notified by Friday April 18th, 2025, on their status within the program. Please complete a separate form for each child you are interested in enrolling.
Summer Learning Labs FAQs
What are the Summer Learning Labs?
Summer Learning Labs are a fun, high-quality academic and enrichment program designed to support student growth, prevent summer learning loss, and keep students on track for the upcoming school year. Clubs that ran Summer Learning Labs in 2024 experienced great success, with results showing "impressive gains in both English AND math during the summer program. Our students showed substantial academic growth, with a 26% improvement in English Language Arts (ELA) and a 20% increase in math from pre- to post-assessments.” (Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northern Indiana Corridor).
Summer Learning Labs will be run at our Ferguson-Crestmont, Ellettsville, and Owen Co. Clubs. Members with a valid membership can attend any Summer Learning Labs site.
What does a day look like?
Each morning (9:00-12:00 PM) students will receive 90 minutes of literacy instruction and 75 minutes of math instruction. The members will be taught by licensed teachers with BGC staff present in the room as teachers' aides. The afternoon portion of the day (12:00-5:00 PM) will consist of traditional BGC summer programming. Youth will engage in fun activities such as arts and crafts, athletics, STEM, field trips, swimming, and much more. All of our members will have a wide variety of activities to participate in.
What are the hours?
- 7:30-9:00: Drop Off (note: Drop Off beings at 7:00 AM for Owen County Club)
- 9:00-12:00: Summer Learning Labs
- 12:00-5:00: Traditional Summer Program
- 5:00-6:00: Pick Up (pick up can occur any time after 12:00 PM, but please communicate with staff as members may be on field trips during the afternoon)
Who can attend?
Summer Learning Labs is available to students who will be in 1st-8th grade in the 2025/2026 school year and who are registered members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bloomington (Ellettsville, Ferguson Crestmont, Lincoln Street, or Owen County). Again, members with a valid Club membership for any location can attend any Summer Learning Labs site.
When will this program be run?
Our Summer Learning Labs will run for five weeks from June 16 - July 18th, 2025.
What is the cost?
Summer Learning Labs is FREE to any registered Boys & Girls Clubs of Bloomington member. If you are not currently enrolled, you can register here for $20/member.
What is the attendance policy?
Attendance is critical to the students' success throughout the program. A minimum of 80% attendance is required. (Please note that the Club is closed for Juneteenth and the 4th of July. These dates will not impact attendance requirements). In the case that a member's attendance drops below the 80% mark, a meeting may be required with Club staff to determine eligibility and/or to ensure there is a plan to meet program requirements.
Is there still regular Summer Center programming available?
Yes, if you’re not interested in the Summer Learning Labs program or your member will be unable to meet attendance requirements, regular Summer Center programming is available from 7:30 am - 6:00 pm at the Lincoln Street & Ellettsville Clubs for $100 per week. Boys & Girls Clubs of Bloomington's Camp Rock is also running as scheduled.
What if I already paid for Summer Center Programming?
If accepted into the Summer Learning Labs program, deposits and registration fees that have already been paid for weeks falling between June 16th - July 18th, 2025, can be refunded or transferred to other Summer Center weeks (weeks 1, 2, 3 and 9)
What about the rest of the summer?
All Clubs will run our regularly scheduled Summer Center programming for Weeks 1-3 (May 26th-June 13th) and Week 9 (July 21st-25th).
